Reincarnation – Krishna Venta, 11/14/1948
One of the happiest moments in one’s life is when he can get away from his material self, go somewhere where he can
commune with God—perhaps by the side of the sea, or beneath some pine-decked mountain peak—in search of solace.
Some find that communion by entering a sanctuary, there to meditate in silence, or listen to another individual speak
of the powers of the Father—that they might live in the happiness of those words. As you have gathered here today in
search of wisdom, this is a sanctuary where we have gathered together to love God and learn the wisdom of the Father,
that we might go forth en masse and be of greater service. We have all been doubters in the past, and many continue
to be. If we were to cast off the cloak of mortality and enter, as little children, into the plane of immortality, I wonder if
there wouldn’t be laws on the immortal plane concerning which we would entertain doubt. If knowledge is an everlasting
thing pertaining to life and one’s progression, then how do we know but what there are problems on every plane—this
earth, the plane of immortality, even unto the Godhead? Problems are present for us to master. From these there is
no escape—neither by flight, nor alcohol, nor narcotics. When you visit a family which entertains dissension, confusion,
and unhappiness, you become unhappy and wish to leave. When you visit another family where there is laughter and
play, you enjoy it and are happy. Every mortal, deep in his heart, is seeking happiness—a joy that will lift him above his
environment. When you gather here, you do so for the joy obtained. You rebel against words which cause dissension
and unhappiness. You want words of wisdom that will permit you to look into the sky and see its beauty. Realizing the
suffering in the city before you, but with the knowledge that your suffering with them cannot help them, you employ
your key of love to impart to those helpless ones your love, that they, too, may turn away from their heartaches and
sorrows. My children, be thou thy brother’s keeper. Be positive, be creative, be constructive in all you think, all you
say, and all you do. Then you will be serving the Son of Man, and—above all else—the God himself. There are many
mysteries in life—existing only because of our lack of understanding.
Once we arrive at understanding, we say, “How foolish I was! Why didn’t I comprehend sooner?” This subject falls
in that category. We have gone to church and heard about the hereafter, about going to Heaven. We know we are
supposed to obey the Ten Commandments; we know we must prove ourselves worthy in the sight of God to put on
the cloak of immortality. Some of us have received baptism; others, confirmation; some have received the spirit of
God in other ways—each trying to the utmost of his ability to understand this world, that he may be worthy of immortality.
One subject that has been like a thorn in your side is “Reincarnation.” When it is mentioned, you are likely to say,
“Oh, that’s bosh! It is just a fancy of someone’s imagination. Reincarnation isn’t according to the laws of God,
because it isn’t mentioned in the Bible. If it isn’t in the Bible, it isn’t true!” However, those laws of the Father are
written in the Bible, even though the word itself isn’t mentioned. People living in Bible times would not have
understood the word. When the Son of God came before them to reveal the wisdom of the Father, He realized
the folly of teaching them reincarnation at that time. He recognized the greater necessity of teaching them to
love one God, and to recognize that God above everything else. However, He did go so far as to tell the people,
“Ye cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven except by me,” meaning that all must master the laws of the Commandments
to attain immortality. The Son of God had no one to help Him, save the Father in Heaven. The Son had to master
by Himself. He had temptations the same as you have, because He was walking in the flesh. His temptations
were mostly associated with people—because of His desire to awaken them to the laws of God. He spent forty
days in the wilderness. He was in the Garden of Gethsemane when He had His battle, alone, without benefit
of advice. Came the Adversary to tempt Him, saying, “If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down, and thou
shalt not be destroyed”; and later, “If thou be the Son of God, cause this stone to be turned into bread.” To all
temptations, the Son said, “Get thee behind me, Satan.”
You must stand the same test. When you face a negative law and are being tested, always remember to say, “Get
thee behind me, Satan.” Adherence to this indicates mastery of that law. The Father knew that as man has individuality,
so would he progress. God did not wish to take away that individuality. Each thinks differently. God does not want
all the same; He would rather see you come to Him by your own volition, than to mold you and force you to follow
His way. Thus, He has set laws into motion and established mileposts. One such is mortality; the one beyond is
immortality. No one can get into immortality without passing through mortality. You have nine cycles—comparable
to the Ten Commandments—to master. You are building up credits here on earth, or as it is spoken—”stars in
your crown.” When you have mastered the Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill,” that is one credit to you. When
you have nine credits, then you are ready for immortality. Since those credits cannot be gained in one lifetime—
any more than all of one’s grammar school credits can be obtained in one year—man has been permitted to have
many lifetimes to master the one grade. If a child fails to master the third grade in one year, he is not lost, but he
will not graduate until he has mastered. Reincarnation is a very old subject. It was known long before the Egyptian
era. Mention is made of it in the ancient hieroglyphics and in the Sanskrit. The Ancients had a religion before there
was a Christianity, and they were not as wrong as you may think. We are more wrong, because we live to the letter
of the law, rather than to the spirit. In the Congo jungles of Africa, the dark-skinned head hunters and so-called
savages have long believed in reincarnation. Nineteen hundred years ago the Son of God went among those
natives, appeared before the Chieftains and departed, telling them He would return. For hundreds of years He
did not reappear, and the “White Master” became a legend. When the first white missionary came to them, it
was natural for the natives to say, “The White Master has returned.” They believed if they could eat one tiny
particle of that white flesh, they themselves would become great masters.
Thus, the first missionary lost his life, yet he could never have given it for a better purpose. We call those natives
cannibals and savages, but they were neither mean at heart nor sacrilegious. Other missionaries came later, and
the natives said, “The White Master has returned in more forms.” These missionaries had guns, and fought the
natives, who said, “We are mistaken. The White Master would not kill us.” As time advanced and the missionaries
were accepted, they noticed sacrificial offerings to the native black leopard. The most beautiful girl in the tribe
was tied to a tree, where the black leopard consumed her. The natives believed their departed Chieftain had
reincarnated into the black leopard. When this animal came near their huts, they believed they had committed
some wrong against the gods, and in appeasement they must offer their most beautiful female as a sacrifice
to the leopard. The people on the Isle of Celebes have another theory of reincarnation. They believe the spirit
of their departed ancestors comes back in the form of the wood-boring wasp. So, when a wasp bores into the
wood of their hut, they move out, leaving the hut to the wasp for its home—believing the house belongs to
their ancestors and not themselves. In India is the belief their departed Chieftains reincarnate into the yak,
the sacred cow. They also worship the pig, as the negative law—the yak being the positive. The Indians will
never kill a yak. They believe the pig is the reincarnation of their loved ones who had not reached perfection,
who had to carry on in this form, and must therefore be protected and aided while they progressed. In Siam
and other places the people worship the white elephant as their returned Chieftain. The Egyptians mummified
their departed Pharaohs and Kings because they believed their rulers would return and would need a body to
express in, whereby they could continue without forming a body of their own. The English and Nordic races
worshipped the butterfly as a beautiful angel, the reincarnation of a departed loved one. Many of the Nordics
still hold to this belief. In the United States there are various theories.
Some people believe that if an individual doesn’t master mortality, his spirit goes to some other plane or system
and there has an opportunity to gain wisdom, and after a specified time—from seventy-two hours to a thousand
years—returns to carry on where he left off, but with greater wisdom because of having been in the spirit world.
Others believe if you are mean to a cat, or dog, or some other animal, you have built a bad karma and you must
return to this earth in the form of that animal to work it out. The entire subject has been greatly confused. Reincarnation
answers many of our present problems. We are a race of people with considerable class distinction, malice, prejudice
and hatred. We condemn an individual either because he has more money, or less, or because he is black or
otherwise. We like to condemn! Before we can cease this practice, there must be a law strong enough to give us
a reason to stop. I offer the following explanation. In the time of Adam and Methuselah, people lived nine hundred
years and more, because they obeyed the laws of God. Because they did not break the Commandments, they
could master the laws of mortality in that period of time. You cannot leave this world until you have mastered the
nine cycles, each requiring one hundred years. You are tested and cannot break any of those nine cycles during
its one-hundred-year period. If you are forty years of age now and have lived the ways of the world, and you have
committed murder in some form or another, or in your heart—for “What a man thinketh, so is he”—you are not
worthy of the kingdom of God. After forty years, you awaken to the fact that you must overcome murder. From
that hour and day, your one-hundred-year period begins. Whenever you break a law, you start again on another
one-hundred-year period. You have all eternity in which to master! “Ye cannot enter the kingdom of heaven
except by me.” You must come to the same height of understanding I have, before you can enter my Father’s
kingdom. Having broken the laws, your life span is shortened, within any given embodiment. The “Ancients,”
having lived the laws of Truth, did not corrupt the law by continuous disobedience, therefore being permitted
the full life span of nine hundred or more years without reincarnating.
Man, since then, has broken the laws—not once, but many, many times—therefore, the privilege of living nine hundred
years in one body has been broken down into many shorter life spans. This has caused man to live longer than nine
hundred years to master mortality. There had to be a way to master—not by forgiveness, but by work. If you played
and did not get your lessons in school, you could not ask your teacher to forgive you and promote you to the next
grade. You can’t ask forgiveness from God, for He says, “If you seek my forgiveness, obey my Commandments—
live them.” That is the way you prove your worth to the Father! Not having mastered the laws of mortality, you must
reincarnate. If you have not broken the law of murder for fifty years, you still have fifty more to complete. You will not
be a lost spirit, as some believe, floating around the earth with others of your ilk, until some day you are able to pick
up a body and continue. Remember, YOU ARE A MORTAL BEING. Thus, you shall always be a mortal being, so long
as you express on this earth plane, no matter if it is a thousand years or more. You as a mortal will never become an
animal—neither fowl, fish nor insect. No matter how many times you return to this earth, you shall always return in
mortal form, because your intelligence, your vibration, has been educated in that form and must therefore continue
to vibrate at that same frequency. When you leave this physical body, you must face the grave—that is, the body
gives up the ghost, and is sent back to the earth. Don’t feel badly about it, and don’t fear it. Knowing that you are
life everlasting, you should have no fear of leaving the body. If life is about to depart from your physical body, since
you are an intelligence, you must have another body to express in, and that body must be with you at all times.
How do you move in? When you pass from this physical body, you never move into the house of an adult—only
into a new house, a new-born baby. The exact second life departs from your body your intelligence enters into
the house of a new-born infant. That intelligence becomes a split personality—composed of an old soul and a
new soul. The new soul is the one which built the body in its mother’s womb.
It is the intelligence which reached perfection in the cellular realm and required a body of its own in which to express
in the mortal realm. That new intelligence was the master and controller of its house until the old soul moved in, when
the first breath was drawn. Often, more than one old soul moves in at birth. The only bodies without split personalities
are those born of Divine conception—births without the aid of man, which are rare. Through reincarnation, your intelligence
is given a chance to carry on from where it left off in the mastery of the laws of mortality. A mother may wonder why
her child is taken from her when it is only two months, or so, old. This was because an intelligence may have lived in
mastery of a law for fifty years in one embodiment, when it had to go into a new house, from which it had to depart
after forty-nine years and ten months, leaving two months remaining in that one-hundred-year cycle. This intelligence
would enter a new body and leave after the two-month period was completed. Thus, the mother would lose her baby
at two months or ten years, or fifteen, or whatever time was required to complete the cycle. Some children are still
-born. The reason for this is that somewhere in the world some relatives were trying to keep a loved one with them.
They pleaded to the doctor, “Please save him; don’t let him go on!” For a moment that loved one was pronounced
dead, but as a result of your pleas, the doctor gave a stimulant to the heart. Somewhere a baby was born to receive
that intelligence, but it—instead of remaining in its new body—was brought back to the old body by your selfishness
in insisting that the doctor do something. Thus, a new body lies empty, still-born. The new soul which built that body
returns with the recalled older soul, there to remain until it must reincarnate upon the eventual passing of the old
house. Premature births are the result of instantaneous accidental death. For example, if a man is instantly killed
by a car as he carelessly crosses the street, the mother-to-be who is closest to him in spiritual genealogy will bear
her child prematurely in order to provide a body for his intelligence. Another law of reincarnation causes a mother
to carry a child more than nine months. This is because somewhere in this world someone had a loved one he
didn’t want to give up. That loved one was kept alive by stimulants and other efforts of the doctors.
Let us say, after two months, life departs. His selfishness in hanging on to the life of that loved one caused a mother
to carry her baby two months over the allotted time. If you understand reincarnation and can recognize the intelligence
of your loved one, you could follow it no matter where it moved to, no matter through how many houses, and you
would attract yourself to it. THE INTELLIGENCE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE TIME NOR SPACE. It can travel from
here to China in a split second. The intelligence, the life flow of you, is not partial to the kind of house it moves
into. You may say “I wouldn’t like to move into such and such a house, because that would be retrogression!”
That is vanity on your part! If you were burned out of your material home, and there was no house to move into
except a shack, you would gladly accept. It is vanity when man says, “Oh dear, I wouldn’t like this house. I live in
a certain social bracket, and I would detest going into the embodiment of a baby born to a poor, ignorant family!”
INTELLIGENCE HAS NO CHOICE OF THE HOUSE IT IS MOVING INTO! It has but one aim: to master the laws
of mortality. That is the thing the real YOU must do. If you have vanity and class distinction, God might see to it
that you reincarnate into another sphere of thought, and in a less comfortable house. GOD RECOGNIZES ONLY
INTELLIGENCE—NOT PERSONALITY. If we could understand reincarnation, we would know that all of us came
in the beginning from God. We would know the black, white and yellow all to be brothers, born of the first beginning.
‘Tis vanity to despise another race of people. Although you may not violently hate the colored people, you do not
want to have anything to do with them. That is vanity. Your intelligence can express in a black body as well as a
white one. In the material world, the type or the color of your house is unimportant. You may be in a white house
now, but your next incarnation may be in a black one. You may not wish to believe this, but before you reach
material perfection, you must come to that understanding. You might be in a female house now, and in the
next incarnation a male house, or vice versa.
You will enter whatever house is available, regardless of color or nationality. Every intelligence has had the chance of
bringing forth child. A woman has just as much intelligence as a man, and the life-flow is just as apt to become a genius
as that in a man. A colored person may be a genius as easily as a white. A great musician may be in a white house,
and reincarnate into a black one. In six years, his genius begins to express, and he will be a child prodigy. Not so long
ago science began a research into the laws of reincarnation. The Psychical Research Society of a leading University
began cataloging the exact second of all births and deaths. Twenty-three years ago they matched a death with a birth.
A man had died in California at the exact second a baby boy was born in New York City. The characteristics of that
child were studied, without revealing the experiment. The child carried on the characteristics of the man who had
died, even to personality, habits and traits. Three years later, another match was located. A woman died at the exact
second a boy was born. The boy carries the characteristics of the woman, even to the extent of being bisexual. Thus,
a woman may be very feminine in her mental concepts, and when she reincarnates into a male body, those female
mental concepts will carry over into the male, and he will be rather effeminate. There are many such cases today,
as well as instances of masculine women. Because you love the body rather than the spirit inside the body, if your
beloved mother reincarnated and came back to you in her new house, you would deny her. You would have lost
contact with the spirit of your own mother. That is where malice, prejudice and hatred originate. If we could understand
that our loved ones may be in a house across the tracks we would love one another. In the obedience of the
Commandment, “Thou shalt love the Lord Thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind,
and thy neighbor as thyself,” you would have sufficient reason for loving them—they may be your loved ones! In
a past incarnation you have had a mother, father, brothers and sisters. They are expressing on this earth plane,
but because of your class distinction, you may meet them and not know they are your relatives in intelligence.
You may commit all manner of evil during your life, and when about ready to die, you pray to be saved—or have
a priest pray for you. That is an easy way to believe, but it is a fallacy, because you don’t get into heaven that
easily. You must master the laws of mortality. You must have love toward your brother as to yourself. You will
continue to reincarnate until you master. Not one soul shall be lost. When you accept, you will say, “How foolish
I have been all these years! I reincarnated over and over to relive my malice, prejudice, hatred, envy and jealousy.”
Racial prejudice continues as you progress from house to house, until you finally overcome it. You may be in
a white house now and have malice and prejudice toward the colored. You may reincarnate into a black body.
That same concept is still active, but since you are in a colored body, you reconvert your hatred toward the
white. Mankind must awaken to the fact that he can express in any body; therefore, man must love all his
brothers, regardless of race or nationality. Psychiatrists have a technical name for the individual who loves
the colored people [?]. Why is a white person attracted to the colored? Because he feels an affinity, as if he
had been a part of that group before. You might ask, “Can’t I select the body I want to go into next time?” No,
you can’t. If you could, there would be a lot of millionaires in this world! Nobody would want to move into a
poor embodiment. You have to take the house that is prepared for you, yet you have no business moving
into that house. That house was built by the new soul. It came forth to control that house; it didn’t expect to
have intruders, but since you have broken the laws and don’t abide by the Ten Commandments, you have
to move in to continue in your mastery. This dual personality is interested in spiritual laws one moment, and
material the next! The mind is willing, but the flesh is weak. In the beginning, you were not dual personalities,
but you broke the laws. God won’t let you into heaven, so you have to reincarnate—and so you make it hell
on earth within. If you study the cases in a penitentiary or any psychiatric institution, you will find that the
majority of the patients are war-born children.
This is because there were so many boys instilled with the ideas of murder and hatred. Perhaps there were twenty
-four killed at one time with only six bodies available for those reincarnatees. Those twenty-four divided among the
six houses, with the result there were five personalities in each house. Bear in mind, each of the six houses were
constructed by a new soul. Thus, you would have four old souls, plus one new soul, which adds up to five in each
body. Each of those personalities is a murderer. When that body begins to express the concept of the thought within
it will be a killer, a murderer. AND YET YOU WONDER WHY YOU CONTINUE TO HAVE WAR AND HATRED!
You wonder why mad leaders rise up to lead the people in bloodshed and slaughter. This is because many killers
are expressing in one body. Each of those five feels he possesses that house. The result is similar to putting five
individuals in one material house. Crowding of so many personalities into one physical body causes a condition
that is not exactly moronic, but is very destructive. The result may be classed by some people as insane, but this
is because all the different personalities are trying to express, and when you try to reason with that person, you
can’t reach a personality you can talk to. Thus, he is declared mentally unbalanced. He is not crazy. Those five
personalities are just as intelligent as you, but each of those intelligences thinks he possesses the house, and
tries to control it. Since they can’t all control it, no one has a chance to express. You may wonder why someone’s
baby is a moron and doesn’t talk. One minute it might be intelligent, and then goes back into a moronic state.
That is because there are so many different personalities trying to express at one time that no one can get a
word in edge-wise. If five or six people started talking simultaneously into a microphone, the result would not be
understandable. It is the same in the physical body. You should realize that you are the master of your house.
Therefore, the higher intelligence of you, the spiritual intelligence, should become the teacher of the new soul
who built the body, because the new soul is always in the first cycle—murder. This is its first time in mortality.
You have reincarnated several times and should be familiar with the characteristics of this world, and your higher
intelligence should keep that body from performing evil. Otherwise, you are no better than the new soul. When
a murderer moves into a house, since the new soul is a murderer, they agree and commit murder. These are the
fundamentals, and will be explained in the lecture on “Dual Personalities.” If people understood reincarnation—
realizing they are an intelligence living in a house, that the house is not them, that they could reincarnate into any
house, either male or female—we could get away from racial prejudice. We could get away from marital prejudice,
for husbands and wives could understand each other better if they knew that the intelligence interchanges between
male and female. We would likewise get away from class distinction. Reincarnation is the answer to the love of
God, for all men are created equal. The only difference between us is the height of our mental understanding.
An understanding of reincarnation would make this world a better place in which to live, for we would stop being
foolish, and begin studying how we could overcome. If we could get away from racial prejudice, we would have
won a great battle. A widespread understanding of reincarnation would eliminate greed on the national scale.
You are waiting for the Son of God, and He has come. Join with Him now and serve, and help make this a
better world. You may say, “The Son of God will come and change the world, and righteousness will reign
again.” The only way it can is for us to rid ourselves of prejudice and hatred. That is why I have explained
reincarnation, so you will see the necessity of overcoming our own misunderstandings. It is your own
misunderstanding that makes things as they are.
